Romeo Pérez is a queer media researcher and the Senior Project Manager of Research and Insights at the Geena Davis Institute. Their academic research has focused on representations of queer characters on screen, social perceptions of gay men, Latinx queer identities, and trans-inclusive Spanish linguistics. They also have a strong passion for social activism and presented at the Institute’s Social Justice Teach-In in June 2020. Romeo graduated with High Distinction from the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor with a dual degree in Spanish and psychology and minors in LGBTQ & Sexuality Studies and Judaic Studies. Romeo now lives in Eagle Pass, Texas with their two fur-babies, Xochipilli and Coatlicue.
