Vision Cart

Components of da Vinci Xi Surgical System, manufactured by Intuitive, communicate with each other through the Vison Cart which houses System Electronics, the Image Processing Hardware, and Electrosurgical Generators.

Powering On

You can power on the whole system with pushing the Power Button on the Surgeon Console, or the Vision Cart or the Patient Cart.

Touchscreen Monitor

Touchscreen Monitor is used to control System Settings and view the surgery.

Insufflation Management System

AirSeal Insufflation Management System manufactured by SurgiQuest (ConMed) is recommended by Intuitive to use with da Vinci Surgical System. This is not a part of integrated da Vinci Xi system. Be advised that AirSeal System has 3 Modes: AirSeal Mode, Smoke Evacuation Mode, and Standard Insufflation Mode. AirSeal Mode needs AirSeal Cannula and a specifically designed Tri-Lumen Tube. Either Smoke Evacuation Mode or Standard Insufflation Mode is used with da Vinci Xi system where we use Standard Robotic Trocars. Connect Insufflation Tube as well as Smoke Tube to Cannulas that will not be used for Endoscope.

Endoscope Controller

The Endoscope connects to the front of Endoscope Controller. There is a single connection for Vision and Light. Connect the Endoscope at least 30 minutes in advance. Light may be turned on later. Press and hold Lamp On/Off button on the Camera Head for 1 second to turn the light On or Off. Endoscope 3D Calibration, Focusing and adjusting White Balance will be automatic. Surgeon can change the Magnification, if he or she wants to, through the Surgeon Console Touchpad.

Video Processor

Video Processor is also located in Vision Cart. Insert a USB Flash Drive into Video Processor Front Panel to Save the Image. You can then Take a Photo through Surgeon Console Touchpad.

Electrosurgical and Ultrasonic Energy Generators

Electrosurgical and Ultrasonic Energy Generators that are used with da Vinci Xi system include: ERBE VIO dV Generator, E-100 Electrosurgical Generator, and Ethicon Harmonic ACE System.

ERBE VIO dV Generator is used to generate Electric Current for Monopolar or Bipolar Electrosurgical Instruments. It also has a BiClamp Mode which is used to generate Bipolar Energy for the Vessel Sealer which is an advanced type of Bipolar Instruments.

E-100 Electrosurgical Generator is used for SynchroSeal device.

Harmonic ACE is used to generate Ultrasonic Energy. Ethicon Harmonic ACE Energy Generator and Axillary Ethicon Foot Pedals should be used. These are not parts of integrated da Vinci Xi system.

Be advised both Electrosurgical and Ultrasonic Instruments use Heating Effect. Electrosurgical Instruments use Electric Current, while Ultrasonic Instruments use Mechanical Energy via Vibration to generate heat.

Other Components

Other components of Vision Cart include Core, which is system’s central connection point, Instrument Control Box, which manages some functions of advanced EndoWrist instruments including the Vessel Sealer, and Gas Tank Holders.
