Between the end of our Submerged season, at Nationals East on the 30th of November 2024, members from our team volunteered at competitions such as:
Nationals South
1st December 2024
FLL APOC
3rd-6th July 2025
We volunteered for the 6th of July, since we were occupied on the 3rd, 4th and 5th.
Our coach also volunteered for the entire tournament.
FTC APOC (17-20th July 2025)
FLL Unearthed - North Sydney Regionals
While supporting teams at these tournaments and coordinating them as required, we also learnt about other robot designs and innovation projects, while helping them with their issues and making friends. We spoke to teams such as:
Sematics 101 (Nationals South)
Sematics 102 (Nationals South)
Get Kraken (Nationals South)
Team Apollo (Volunteering at Nationals South)
Bot Builders (FLL APOC)
Brick Builders (FLL APOC)
Fluffy (FLL APOC)
We gained two new members at the start of this season, which meant that our inclusion and teamwork were slightly rocky for a few weeks, as both we learnt to integrate with them and vice-versa.
During our meetings, we did a range of team building exercises, organised by our coaches, to help us improve on our Core Values. These exercises included things such as:
Sorting into height order with our eyes closed.
Transferring some rings across all team members using straws held in our mouth, with differing sizes of rings each time.
A game where we sub-divided into 2 teams, and had one handball between us. One team threw the ball, then the other chased it and did a quick Captain Ball round, before themselves throwing it. After throwing it, the team would huddle while one person ran around them.
This wasn't as successful as the other exercises, since we began to become a little bit too competitive.
In 2 teams, building a mechanism from an image, using pieces which had to remain in a closed ziplock bag.
One of the teams did try to get pieces from our supply.
We all stood on two skis, and were told to move from point A to point B, not touching the skis with our hands (Ropes were attached which we had to use). We started off by doing a conventional "Lift left. Lift right." waddle, however soon realised that we could untie the rope connecting the two together and "throw" one forward, cross over and repeat with the other ski.
Split into 2 groups, one with a model design, one with a bag of parts, separated by a door. The team with the model has to instruct the other team on how to build the model, then once finished both teams compare models. Repeat as many times as needed. This exercise was decent, with nearly everyone contributing at different stages, although prodding was required for some members to be included.
Pseudo-volleyball, with a beach ball
Musical chairs + dodgeball
Simple catching activities (For the sake of Fun)
