Clan Acustico is a podcast created and hosted by Raffaele Costantino, founder and artistic director of the Hyperjazz Records label, and distributed by Hypercast. 

The project explores the world through sound, giving a voice to artists, musical communities, and cultural traditions that often exist beyond the mainstream. 

Through storytelling, curated listening, personal accounts, and field recordings, Clan Acustico creates a contemporary sonic map that connects territories, cultures, and diverse forms of musical expression.

A journey through field recording as a practice of knowledge, suspended between documentation and invention. 

From Steven Feld’s acoustemology, which explores how the Kaluli people of Papua New Guinea understand the world through sound, to Andrew Pekler’s *Phantom Islands*, which constructs recordings of places that never existed in order to challenge the very idea of authenticity.

In between, Roberto Musci weaves decades of travel into a personal synthesis of different cultures, while Francisco López turns deep listening into a discipline, resisting the sonic *horror vacui* of contemporary life.

Four different ways of questioning what it means to record the world—and what remains real when sound becomes a map.

Persistence of Vision

Persistence of Vision takes its title from the optical phenomenon in which an image appears to linger briefly after the original visual stimulus has disappeared.

The work xplores  the possibility that sound may continue to resonate in perception even after it has ceased. In this sense, the work evokes a form of “persistence of hearing,” in which musical memory, resonance and inner listening endure beyond the audible event.

The composition reinterprets Abhogi, a raga from the Indian classical tradition, through Western instrumentation and an experimental electroacoustic approach.

Justin Davey as  producer and remixer, he has worked with a range of international pop and electronic artists including: Nicki Minaj, Pusha T, David Guetta and G-Eazy. As a remixer, he has worked on material connected to Ariana Grande, Empire of the Sun, Jessie J, Alessia Cara and RAC, and has also composed music for major film productions, including  Marvel’s movie Venom.

The track was created as part of Justin Davey’s Loa Angeles project and appears on the album Late July. My contribution brings his distinctive approach to acoustic instrumentation, sampled sound and intercultural composition into the song’s production.
