8- Moulay Abdellah Amghar (ex Tit)

Old fortified enclosure around one of the oldest minarets in Islam (1060), this sanctuary was erected on the spot where the Tit would have been built, the famous fort of antiquity built by the first Sanhajas (one of the tribes who were born in Doukkala), was supposedly built.

Around the second half of the 19th century, Moulay Ismail Amghar and his brother left Saudi Arabia and, more particularly Medina, to settle in Morocco. Moulay Ismail was considered one of the great scholars and was highly respected by the people of Medina. They settled on the Atlantic coast of Morocco and more precisely in Tit which is located 10 km south of the El Jadida city. They built a mosque which they surrounded by ramparts as evidenced by the remains that have, moreover, recently been restored to safeguard this rich historical heritage. Tit, who was then called "Aîn El Fitr", is known today as Moulay Abdellah Amghar who is also the patron (holy) of the city.

This high place of national history serves as the setting, every year in summer, for the famous Moussem (festival) of Fantasia, to show their gratitude to the patron of the place and his descendants for having raised this fortified mosque to the glory of God, and in order to keep alive the memory of the victorious battles against the occupier. For nearly ten days, about 78 000 tents are erected and more than 500 horsemen gather from all over the kingdom. This Moussem is visited each year by more than 200 000 national and foreign visitors. Many religious and other activities are celebrated : fantasias (riding horses and gunpowder shooting), popular dances, night parties, games with falcons (falconry is part of the Doukkala heritage; see the logo chosen for the Meeting)...

9- Miscellaneous : Municipal Theater

Formerly called "party hall", the municipal theater of El Jadida opened its doors for the first time in 1925; the laying of its first stone was carried out in 1920. In its early days, it was reserved only for dance evenings, masked balls and family festivities. It was not until 1930 that it was transformed into a theater with 658 seats, 88 of which are reserved for the 11 boxes (no longer exist!) to accommodate the great personalities. As for the stage, it was built taking into account the "Italian" architecture with a decor and carpentry room in the background. All around the stage, there were 13 dressing rooms reserved for the actors.

The first theatrical performance, entitled "The Imaginary Invalid" of Moliere, took place on July 15, 1930. It was staged by the Artistic Association of Mazagan, whose president was also the first president of the commission of Mazagan festivals and the first director of the El Jadida theater. During this first period, access to this establishment was formally forbidden to natives and it was only in 1946 that a Moroccan troupe called the Association théâtrale d'El Jadida was able to produce on the stage of the theater its play entitled "The removal of El Amine", directed by Driss Lamsaffer. A year later, a group of Moroccan Jews residing in El Jadida presented the play "Aouisha's son" written and directed by Haïm Nsaïem ; the latter was a hairdresser in El Jadida.

From 1950, the theater of El Jadida began to house several foreign artistic events as well as theatrical training courses, and it was also during this period that it underwent other architectural transformations. But animation only experienced its intensification after independence, even if it remained without an administrative or artistic director. It was then the festival committee, set up by the municipality, which took care of the programming of the events.

Since 2012, it is now called: Théatre Mohamed Said Afifi
