NAVIGATING THE UNDERGROUND - VICTORIA PARK

MAY 22, 2023

Our group began our trip to Victoria Park from The Generator hostel, where a copy of The London Underground Map hung on the wall. We identified the closest station and decided our route: take the underground Victoria Line, then the Overground to Hackney Wick. With Oyster Cards and clear signage throughout each tube station, we arrived to Victoria within an hour of leaving the hostel. On a Monday at 2:30 p.m., the park was not crowded, but we saw multiple individuals and groups enjoying the afternoon. The park is made up of large grassy areas and paved walking paths shaded by trees, and we saw people walking their dogs, playing sports, and biking. Additionally, the park's design included tennis courts, outdoor exercise equipment, and a community garden. These amenities are free to the public and accessible through public transit; providing the surrounding community with nearby greenspace and an area for leisure.
