Day 4
A day of highlights on a trip full of highlights! We boarded the ferry to Mull where we caught a bus and traversed the beautiful Isle of Mull. The bus was big and the roads were tiny and winding.
The journey met the criteria for a theme park thriller ride! But oh was the breathtaking scenery worth it as we listed to Paul McCartney sing “The Mull of Kintyre”. Then we took a second ferry to Iona, the birthplace of Christianity in Scotland. It was a beautiful setting with sandy white beaches, quaint island cottages, and a breathtaking 800-year-old abbey. It was a beautiful island setting with sandy white beaches, charming island cottages, and a breathtaking 800-year-old abbey. At one point, Seamus, who was a professional musician, sang a hymn with another member of our group in the abbey. The acoustics along with the surroundings left us feeling closer to our God. My granddaughter, daughter, and myself were able to squeeze in an hour on the beach where we collected beautiful multicolored stones that now line the garden pots.
