Days 12-13
We arrived at our final destination Edinburgh. And talk about saving the best till last. A beautiful city, with a charming blend of the old with the new. We wandered the streets, sampled local cuisine, explored ancient cemeteries, toured the Royal Yacht Britannia, and sought out every bookstore in Edinburgh. MG, a passionate bookworm, found kindred souls in the bookstores of Edinburgh. (We questioned the wisdom of indulging MG’s passion on the trip back as we struggled to make room for the books in our suitcases!) Then it was back to the hotel to meet up with the group for a final dinner at a fabulous restaurant. After a gourmet meal and rehashing of all the adventures we had endured, Seamus, the ever gracious tour guide, pointed out the good, the bad, and the ugly in the clan! (Just kidding, no ugly in the bunch). Seamus, ever the gracious tour guide, pointed out the good, the bad, and the ugly in our clan, (just joking, no ugly in the bunch). Appropriate rewards/punishments were given out. Hint, if you do a Rick Steves tour with Seamus, don’t be late to the bus! Once again Seamus thoughtfulness was evident as he presented MG with a stuffed replica of Nessie that proudly resides on her pillow. As the evening wound down, several people matriculated to the bar, not wanting the evening/trip to end. But end it did. The following morning, the group meet in the lobby to check out, exchange hugs, make promises to stay in touch, thank Seamus, and generally feel amazed at the how tight knit we had become, a true clan in the best sense of the word. It was bittersweet to reach the end of a wonderful trip but on a positive note, it whet our appetite to start planning our next big adventure. And who better to plan that trip with than Rick Steves Tours!
