Treshnish isles and staffa

Day  5

A free day, which translates to another ferry ride to the isles of Staffa and Treshnish to see the puffins, oh the puffins. MG felt like she had been to Disney World as we scrambled over the rocks and ledges of Treshnish to take in the adorable puffins and their babies. We settled on a rock with our picnic provided by the hotel and were in a state of bliss. Then it was on to the windswept Isle of Staffa to explore Fingal’s Cave. When you read the description in Rick Steve’s guide book, you might easily dismiss this experience. Once again, words and pictures cannot explain the sense of magnificence of the cave after perilously climbing the slick stone steps bordered by a rushing waterfall. So I won’t try, just make this a must stop on your Scotland adventures.  When we reminisce about our trip, the puffins and Fingel’s cave dominate the list. We felt so privileged ti have seen the Puffins, threatened by extinction. Scotland’s reverence for their way of life, wildlife, and cultural heritage should serve as a blueprint for the rest of the world.
