into the highlands - Part 1: loch ness

Day  6

The day MG had been waiting for, Loch Ness. We began our trek through the highlands, stopping at picturesque villages along the way. MG was barely able to contain her excitement. She felt she was an expert on the Loch Ness Monster, thanks to her years of watching Scooby Doo. But Seamus was the real authority. As we were approaching Loch Ness, Seamus educated us all on the history of Nessie; the sightings, the fear, the terror. But he was quick to point out, if the elusive Nessie was to be spotted, she would show herself to the child like true believers. Once we arrived at the loch, Seamus escorted MG to the head of the line to board the ferry. Unbeknownst to Mary, Seamus had orchestrated an entire filmed scenario incorporating everyone in our tour as cast members to document her search for Nessie. The film was shot and narrated by Seamus in his beautiful Scottish brogue. It was so much fun for MG--it made her trip! And it was such an extraordinary act of kindness by Seamus to make sure MG’s trip was unforgettable. Later Seamus uploaded the video to our groups Facebook page and MG was able to share it with family and friends. And this is what makes a Rick Steves tour so unique, they go the extra mile. It is the attention to detail to make sure it is not just a tour but an experience of a lifetime. Thank you, Seamus and all our tour “clan”, for being part of MG’s experience.

No hunt would be complete without a trip to the Loch Ness Centre & Exhibition to learn all about the Nessie sightings

Mission accomplished!
