In 1957, the following developments were the beginnings of the Research Football Club:

• Wally Dodkins and Barry Wilkes discussed the idea of forming the Research Football Club

• First sponsor was Ron Andrews who donated a bag of spuds which was the push needed and the club was in the making

• Jumper - Yellow gold with black swan

Then 1958 saw a committee formed, and a coach was appointed ...

• The first game was played on 20th April 1958 against Whittlesea

• After 12 losses in a row, Research won their first game defeating Wallan 15-14 ( 104 ) to 4-11 ( 35 )

• Among the best were Corbert, Smith with 6 goals. Beer flowed that evening.
