Our school has the Federal Lunch program. The food is cooked daily and served for each individual student in disposable dishware. On Wednesdays, lunch is given to students in lunch bags at their classrooms since all Wednesday are minimum days (12:30pm dismissal). Before receiving their lunch bag, the students sanitize their hands using the sanitizer dispensers in their classroom. At their classrooms they eat and relax until they are scheduled to be picked up by their parents according to their last name.
On Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, the different Student Cohorts are staggered to get their lunch at the kitchen. They use the designated routes to get to the kitchen and back to their classrooms where they eat. Upon reaching the kitchen, they sanitize their hands and get their individual lunch from the kitchen counters which have plexiglass protectors. Students are given approximately 20 minutes to eat in their classroom. At the end of the 20-minute period, the whole group goes out to the playground following the designated routes to their correspondent playground areas. They are then given approximately 20 minutes to play at the end of which they are guided to the restrooms to use them or at the very least wash and/or sanitize their hands before they return to their classrooms.
Students who bring their own lunch remain in the classroom to eat it, until it is time for them to go to the playground with the rest of their cohort.
Teachers and personnel that chooses to get lunch from the kitchen, will receive their lunch in the classroom together with the students in their cohort. The staff breakrooms are closed for eating, so faculty and staff who bring to school their own lunch will need to eat it in their classrooms. No sharing of food and utensils is allowed.
