Main Building (Grades 1 thru 6th)
The boys’ restrooms have four urinals with board barriers in between them, three sinks with board barriers as well, and two stalls (one for handicap access). The girls’ restrooms have five stalls (one of them has handicap access) and three sinks with board separators. All the sinks in both restrooms are sensor-operated. Six students are allowed in the boys’ restrooms at once and five girls are allowed in the girls’ restrooms at once. The physical distancing to get to the restrooms and to get out of them has been marked with the six-feet markers. One door is to enter and the other is to exit the restroom. Grades 1 thru 6th make use of these restrooms in the main building.
Hand washing signs have been placed, we created simple videos for the students to see how they are expected to wash their hands. The teachers will be given access to these videos and they will be encouraged to create their own with their students.
To keep our cohorts from mixing with each other, we have scheduled two restroom visits for students to go as a class – one right before the cohorts’ recess time and one right after the cohorts’ lunch time. Students who need to use the restroom at any other times, will be excused from their classes one at a time. If more than five students need to use the restroom, they will have to form a line keeping the 6 feet distance. An employee will be in charge of checking the restrooms periodically to make sure students using them abide by the rule of allowing only five students in the restrooms at once.
The classes are staggered, guided and supervised by the teacher or the teacher assistant of each grade. Five students are allowed in the restrooms at once. As students leave the restroom they will be replaced by another student of the line where students will be keeping the 6 feet distance. Students using the toilets or the urinals on their way out to recess will be required to wash their hands at the sinks and then go out to their playground section. Students not wanting to use the toilets nor the urinals will enter and exit the restrooms without washing their hands to go out to their playground area.
At the end of their lunch playtime, each class enters the building and visits the restrooms. The classes are guided and supervised by the teacher or the teacher assistant of each grade. The students are asked if they need to use the restroom. Those students are guided to form the front of the line. Five students are allowed in the restrooms at once. As students leave the restroom they will be replaced by another student of the line where students will be keeping their 6 feet distance. Students using the toilet or the urinals will be required to wash their hands at the sinks and then go out to form a line out in the playground keeping the 6 feet separation. Students not wanting to use the toilets will stay in the line with 6 ft. separation. Once all the students in the class are in the line, 6 feet apart from one another, the teacher or teacher assistant directs the students in the cohort back to their classroom.
The restroom in the Shea Building has three stalls and three sensor-operated sinks with board separators in between them. There is only one door therefore students go in and out through the same door. The teachers and teacher assistant will be supervising the children as they use the restroom, no more than three students will be allowed in the classroom at any time.
