This video shows how to compress unsupported files like .heic or .vectornator into a .zip so they can be shared on our system as assignment submissions.
4.4 Car Trace
Use these Apps to make your Car Drawing:
Pick a large picture of a car from the internet. The smallest side of the image should be at least 1000 pixels. Also, find a picture where the car is at an angle. This will make it easier to show the dimension of the car and in turn, make the project more interesting.
Download my file as an example of how to organize your workflow
Size your document 8.5 x 11 at 150 resolution. (letter size, change from 300 dpi)
Open up your car picture in Photoshop.
Draw a car of your choice using the Pen Tool (P)
Know the difference between a "vector" image and a "raster" image.
Learn to use "Paths" to organize and draw the different parts of your car. Paths are like layers, but they contain vector information only.
Use the Gradient (G) tool to fill selections.
Learn when and why to lock transparent pixels.

Sharing files between Procreate and Vectornator
Up to this point we have been using Procreate or something like it. The next stage in the course is learning how to share files across apps.
All apps do certain things really well. Some apps can do more than others, but no app does everything well. We will begin to explore how to share files across apps.
Consider common file types? What is a common file you know of? JPG, PDF, DOC… these are generic file types that most apps can open and edit. More sophisticated file types like PSD or Photoshop documents
Draw 3 App Icons in one class period with the pen tool (shape layers)
use the attached file to start
choose an easy, medium, and hard icon
you can choose an app that is not included but you will have to source it yourself and complete it in the time given
Name it APPquiz_YourName
Turn in the PSD of your file. This part is important because I am grading your use of the tools and how you organize your file in addition to how well you use the pen/shape tools.

Goals:
Redesign a sports logo or an app icon using the Pen Tool (P) and layer styles, custom shapes, and text.
We will look over what it takes to make something iconic? What principles of design we will use to make this project successful.
Why change a logo? How does style affect the perception of a product? Remember John Meada talking about form and content using fonts.
Help
I recommend redesigning a logo from a sports team because most of the difficult work has been done already. The color, the imagery, and the concept are given to you and you are bound to them. Take the Seattle Sea Hawks for example. It is a regional bird (hardy predatory raptor), regional colors (coastal watery cool colors), and a regional style (Native Americans from the Pacific Northwest).
Consider the Dolphins logo in the same way. This can be done with most sports teams though you may need to do some research about why/how a team is what it is.
If you are looking for a challenge try choosing a company or brand you like. You can also come up with a new logo or brand for something you would like to see. This is the most difficult to assess and the most difficult to do well because all the history has to be invented along with the design.
The two images of sports team logos above were made by professionals. An appropriate analogy that is here is, "anyone can throw a football but, professionals are way-way better at it." That said we have to practice. The good news is that most of us are already pretty good at choosing the best logo in a lineup. So the best way to improve your design is to change it and make versions. The next, and more difficult, the step is learning how to describe what makes one better than the other. The next step after that is applying that insight and making more than one. You repeat this process until you run out of time. Time is almost always the limiting factor in terms of success.
Design a logo that is your name.
This project aims to make a cool logo that you can cut out with the Cricut as a sticker and put on your water bottle or Laptop.
Make drawings in your sketchbooks, and think about the lesson we did on letter shapes.
What shapes are in your name? My name, HEATH, has a lot of verticals. A logo I made looks like this:
You can use the primary shapes - 🔺 🟢 🔹 for each letter in your name or combine them to make complex forms.
Use https://www.vectorizer.io/ to turn your drawing into an SVG.
Use the free version.
You can use fonts in the app Canva
You can download fonts from another site, upload them to your Canva account, and use them for your design.
You type out your name as one shape
You could make each letter a unique element or layer and over lap them.
A good place to start after you have made some sketches is to find a loge you like and change it to say your name.
This will help you practice making things with the new app, and then you can make what you want when you are finished.
