Glitching with Audacity
Find two images of the same person/thing
1. 500 pixels black and white
2. close to or larger than 1000 in color
both images need to be JPG (not all images are created equal, some may not work)
Prepping your files in PS
Crop (c) your image to a square (hold shift)
look at image > image size /pixels
Save as and rename your file - titleSize or just Size (this step is important)
save as JPG
save as Photoshop RAW
do this for both files
Opening your RAW file in Audacity
File > Import > Raw data
choose -
encode = ULaw
Byte order = Little-endian
Channel = default (don't change)
Edit your file with effects (effects are like filters in PS)
Editing and Saving/Exporting from Audacity
File > Export Audio
In the dialogue box choose "other uncompressed" from the drop-down menu (the program wants to make an audio file, you want something that can open in PS)
Choose - RAW headerless and ULaw in the drop-downs for the file. (If the menu adds an extension to your file that is not "raw" delete it and save your file without one.)
You can also create several files by exporting, saving with a new name, then adding more effects and exporting again with a unique name. I usually do this when if I want to see the difference between certain effects. You can also close the program after exporting
Opening into PS
file>open - RAW file
check Photoshop RAW options for differences (my Channel count was different, but the file still worked)
You may have to type in the size of your file before importing it
try opening it
You have completed this portion of the assignment when you when you successfully complete the process above for each of your files. -- Once you finish that you can use the "Glitch Web tools" linked beside these instructions to continue editing your file.
use this to encode your image as RAW
This website is very similar to filters in photoshop. Check it out.
