Poem - Life. Be in it - 1999

Wolfgang Schreiber, February 1999:

When Reggie and I met at the VIII International AIDS Conference in Amsterdam in July 1992, we both knew that our time would be limited...

In February 1993 we took a picture in front of a graffito in a park in Newark, NJ.

This graffito said:

                             Life

                             Be

                             in

                             it.

It felt like our motto.

After Reggie's death I wrote a poem for the funeral:

Life. Be in it.

Life. Too short to be wasted.

Life. Too precious to be mistreated.

Life. So frail.

Life. So beautiful.

Life. No room for ignorance.

Life. No room for hatred.

Life. No room for fear.

Life is love. Life is tenderness. Life is understanding.

Life is laughing. Life is dancin' and singin' and drinkin' and eatin' and workin' and...

Life. Too beautiful to be rushed through.

Life is now - so be in it!
