A Mexican and an American Hand, 2024
Using natural materials such as dirt, clay, and a mix of adhesives. I have created hand prints using Mexican and American hands, outlining their hands in clay. Each print holds dirt from its respective location. This work focuses on the duality of identity and questions what makes these two prints and dirt different when in fact they are not. We all reside in one big land called Earth and I am proud that I am the one who has Mexican and American hands. I don't think land was supposed to be separated. What separates people at the end of the day are these imaginary lines and in some cases a physical border.
About the Artist
I create works that hold memory, a feeling, and the potential to make people happy.
I wouldn't call myself an artist but someone who likes and enjoys making things and is in an experimental phase of life.
I take influence from my lived experiences I have gone through, wanting to represent my culture, my feelings and emotions.
I make art because I like keeping busy and creating. I see it as an outlet to express my creativity, but I hope that I can get good enough to help others in need and inspire. I want my artwork to make people feel and reflect.
