Beneath the Toxic Sun, 2024
This work focuses on showing the audience another perspective in regards of those aspects that affect the life quality of a population. My project is based on the contamination of Mexicali, B.C. Mexico, the city that watched me grow and inspired me to portray the reality of one of the most polluted cities in the world. I'm using photography to emphasize awareness and demonstrate evidence of the issue in Mexicali.
Through photography, I want to show the truth, the images that many people in Mexicali see every day. I created a series of six photos to raise awareness of the true image of this city. Some of the elements that have been considered on this project are factories, feedlots, trash, and contamination. My hope for the audience is to understand the seriousness of the situation, where several cities around the world are suffering the same issues.
About the Artist
As an artist and person I keep searching to find my own purpose in this world believing I could be part of a change or a cause. My work focuses on creating pieces that can raise awareness or interest in a broad audience.
My work utilizes the mediums of video, graphic design and more recently, photography to explore themes relating to music, comedy, and culture. I draw inspiration from my Mexican culture and the art that’s behind it, as well as artists such as Chris Marker and Andy Warhol.
My hope is for my work to communicate messages and passion that anyone can connect with. In this way, I look to find my own path, my way to be remembered by those who see my work.
