South African engineering academics and engineering education researchers are actively involved across a number of organisations. Our home grown South African Society for Engineering Education (SASEE) is dedicated to bringing together stakeholders who have an interest in engineering education. These include engineering academics and educators at higher and further education institutions, academics from other disciplines who teach engineering students, engineering professional support staff, engineering librarians, professional engineers, certified engineers, engineering technologists, engineering technicians and industry. SASEE hosts workshops, webinars and conferences, and launched the Southern Journal of Engineering Education (SJEE) in 2022.
WEEF-GEDC conferences are among the world’s largest gathering of stakeholders and leaders in engineering education - from institutions, industry, nonprofits, and governments - who come together to promote pedagogy and impact engineering education on a global scale.
"Connecting the world's engineering education societies to leverage our members' collective strengths to improve engineering education worldwide". IFEES offers the international engineering education community engagement opportunities through webinars, events and book series.
REEN is an independent, international and inclusive forum for quality research in engineering education. REEN is a community of scholars interested in conducting high quality work in and advancing the field of Engineering Education Research.
“Bringing Life to our Engineering Curricula” is an exciting collaboration between a number of academic institutions in South Africa and the United Kingdom, sponsored by the Newton Fund and Royal Academy of Engineering.
A vibrant EER community emerged during the Covid-19 era across the African continent. The EERN-Africa network started as a WhatsApp group, and now has over 100 members. The community meets online once a month for practice-sharing and community-building discussions. The group has already produced a collaborative paper (in press).
