Standard 7 - Assessment – The competent teacher understands and uses appropriate formative and summative assessments for determining student needs, monitoring student progress, measuring student growth, and evaluating student outcomes. The teacher makes decisions driven by data about curricular and instructional effectiveness and adjusts practices to meet the needs of each student.
This artifact is an assessment I created in my Educational Psychology class at Trinity Christian College. This assessment tests my students' comprehension levels of the material that was taught in chapter 7 of the unit. Using technology assessments such as the one above it can be used to instantly recognize which students are demonstrating an understanding of the learning targets that are being taught in the unit. With instant feedback I can identify which areas of the units are in need of attention, and spend more time modifying instruction to the evidence found through the assessments.
This artifact is a good example of Standard 7 performance objective 7O - which it effectively uses appropriate technologies to conduct student assessments, monitors performances, and assess student progress. Through bringing together this type of assessment in my classroom, I can give instant feedback to my students in the areas they are struggling with, give support with instruction to meet the needs of every student as information about each student is being used in the progress of the learning targets.
