Kindness
Showing kindness to someone through actions or words can change someone's day or even life! We are all struggling with something each and every day. Bullying is that struggle for so many students when they go to school. In this video, at a middle school basketball game a cheerleader is being bullied by a group of fans because she has down syndrome. Immediately, three 14-year old boys that are on the basketball team came to her defense and told them to stop and what they were doing isn't right. As a Coach, I can tell you that I would expect the same from my group of players as well. Athletes do have that "popularity status" to them but I believe it's not a status but it's a platform. These three young men used that platform to defend someone that was being bullied. What way can YOU use your platform today, tomorrow, and always to help someone that might be getting bullied?
How bad do you want it?
A lot of people want things in life and there's nothing wrong with that. But the one's that put in the time, effort, attitude, heart and tears are the ones that get those things done. For me, I know without any doubt I want to become a teacher and a coach. I want to impact lives! I want to pass on what has been given to me by my former coaches and teachers when I was in school. I want to pay it forward. Every time I listen to this video it reminds me of where I have come from and been through. The days and hours of praying for a change for something to happen in my life. This is an opportunity to be in this program and accomplish what I feel so passionate about.
The opportunity to impact lives!
Innovation in Sports Technology
Technology in Sports has changed the game. It has changed the way it is played, the way you prepare for an opponent, it has changed it for the fan as well. Sports in Technology has been able to use cameras in a sporting event, record what is happening during the game and take those frames from the cameras and turn it into data. This will also help fans see what the player see's at any given time as Mark Cuban says.
When the answer is "No." How do you respond?
What do you do when life tells you "No." I'm a big fan of Tim Tebow and admire him very much. This video speaks to me because just like Tim Tebow, I believe that life is about how you react to what happens in it. Even someone as successfull as Tim Tebow has failed and been told "No." However, it's his reaction to these things on what makes him who he is.
Videos of Joy
For my video on joy I decided to go with a compilation of videos of Soldiers coming home and surprising their families while using Tik Tok. I chose this video because it does involved an app that is very popular know and helps understand how it can be used in different settings. And possibly one day I could use it in my class setting as well for educational purposes.
