Standard 5 - Instructional Delivery – The competent teacher differentiates instruction by using a variety of strategies that support critical and creative thinking, problem-solving, and continuous growth and learning. This teacher understands that the classroom is a dynamic environment requiring ongoing modification of instruction to enhance learning for each student.
Throughout creating this artifact, I wanted to stay within range of the Illinois Professional Teaching Standard, "Instructional Delivery". Throughout this process, I feel that I met with section 5H, which states, "the competent teacher understands when and how to adapt or modify instruction based on outcome data, as well as student needs, goals, and responses." This QR Code goes with how students have different learning techniques and how to modify and adapt them to your teaching standards. I also believe that these learning techniques help teachers to realize what types of needs and goals their students might be more prone or equipped to handle.
Technology in Education has grown substantially over the years and has almost become a norm in the classroom. By using technology you significantly promote "critical and creative thinking, problem-solving, and continuous growth and learning" from Standard 5 in the Illinois Professional Teaching Standards. My Technology in Education class has provided me with a large variety of methods to present educational material. One method that I found very effective was Google Forms by students scanning a QR code. Throughout creating this artifact, I wanted to stick closely to the Illinois Professional Teaching Standard, "Instructional Delivery". Throughout this process, I feel that I met with section 5H, which states, "the competent teacher understands when and how to adapt or modify instruction based on outcome data, as well as student needs, goals, and responses." This QR code which transfers over into a google form with answers from students goes well with this section because it shows how every student in my class learns. This QR code will also help me to modify and adapt my lessons to my teaching standards. I also believe that this learning technique helps teachers to realize what types of needs and goals their students might be more prone or equipped to handle.
In meeting with the Illinois Professional Teaching Standard: Instructional Delivery, the second artifact I created was a 5th Grade PE Math Workout Activity. The activity I created contains 5th-grade math problems and questions. The students answer the problem by completing the workout that is under whichever answer they choose. This activity was produced in order to bring together two different content areas and allow the students to see that Math and Physical Education can go together.
Throughout creating this artifact, I wanted to stick closely to the Illinois Professional Teaching Standard, "Instructional Delivery". Throughout this process I feel that I met with section 5H, which states, "the competent teacher understands when and how to adapt or modify instruction based on outcome data, as well as student needs, goals, and responses." I feel that this activity goes along with this standard because it adapts the 5th-grade math curriculum to go along with our Physical Education activities, helping to meet with the student's needs and goals for both math and PE.
After creating this artifact I learned that knowing more about different learning styles, what they are, and how they are used can come in handy when trying to relate topics to one another. I feel that this will help me in my future teaching career because it will help me to expand my methods of teaching and help to combine several different subjects while teaching Physical Education.
