Research Network on Economic Experiments for the Common Agricultural Policy (REECAP) - 8th Annual Meeting
Ljubljana, 22nd–24th June 2026
It’s our great pleasure to invite you to the 8th Annual Meeting of Research network on Economic Experiments for the Common Agricultural Policy (REECAP), organised by the REECAP board and the University of Ljubljana, Biotechnical faculty. The meeting will take place in Ljubljana (Slovenia) on 22nd–24th June 2026.
The congress will take place over three days and will feature a keynote presentation, parallel sessions with oral presentations and two panel discussions. The meeting will conclude with an excursion to a nature reserve preserving the biodiversity of agricultural landscapes.
Call for abstracts is NOW OPEN! *EXTENDED UNTIL MARCH 2ND*
Theme and topics of interests
The annual meeting’s objective is to strengthen and enlarge the REECAP community and disseminate research and policy advice in the field of agricultural policy. We welcome contributions from the fields of behavioural and experimental agricultural economics (finished or work-in-progress) focused on agricultural and food systems policies (e.g. the CAP), environment, biodiversity, climate or agricultural landscapes.
Specifically, we invite:
Applications of experimental methods to agricultural and agri-environmental themes: laboratory, field, lab-in-the-field, randomised controlled trials (RCT), discrete choice experiments (DCE);
Quasi-experimental work in the field of agricultural economics and agri-environmental policy and agri-food business economics with clear links to policy questions;
Work using behavioural insights or economic psychology to improve food, agricultural, and agri-environmental policies;
Experimental designs.
Guide for authors
Authors are encouraged to submit their latest research, case studies, and advancements aligned with the conference theme and topics of interest.
Please send your contribution (i.e. an abstract of 500 words / 3700 characters maximum) before the 2nd of March 2026 using this link.
Authors of accepted submissions will be notified by the 5th of April 2026.
If you have any questions related to the call for abstracts, feel free to contact us by sending an email to ziva.alif@bf.uni-lj.si.
REECAP Award for young researchers
REECAP will award a Prize to the best contribution by an early-career researcher. Eligible contributions should have, as a presenting author, a researcher who has not yet earned his or her PhD or who has completed it in 2023 or later. The selection process will be conducted by the members of the Scientific Committee of the REECAP meeting and a representative of the REECAP board, who will serve as Chair of the Award Committee. Contributions will be assessed based on presentation at the conference and an extended abstract (2 pages / 7300 characters). The assessment will cover three criteria: scientific merit, policy relevance, and the clarity and structure of the presentation. To be eligible for the award, the contribution must include early or final results, while contributions solely on study design are not eligible. The winner will be announced at the closing ceremony of the REECAP meeting and the decision disseminated via the REECAP Blog and newsletter.

Keynote Speaker
Romain Espinosa is a researcher in economics at CNRS (France). His research lies at the intersection of experimental economics and animal welfare economics. He has conducted experimental studies on behaviors and attitudes toward animal welfare and meat consumption, including resistance to information, the impact of NGO campaigns, policy acceptability, and fairness principles. Methodologically, he specializes in Registered Reports and has published a practical guide on how to write a Registered Report. He also serves as a Recommender (Associate Editor) at PCI Registered Reports, an academic community dedicated to the evaluation and publication of Registered Reports.

Workshop Chair
Julian Sagebiel is a postdoctoral researcher in the Nature’s Values group at the University of Leipzig and the Biodiversity Economics group at the German Centre for Integrative Biodiversity Research (iDiv) Halle-Jena-Leipzig. His research focuses on environmental valuation, particularly using stated preference methods to explore how societies value biodiversity and ecosystem services. Julian earned his PhD from Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and has since conducted research and teaching at institutions such as the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in Uppsala and Technische Universität Berlin.
