Antidisciplinary Eela Thamizh artist, writer and producer, Priyanka is an arts and cultural worker whose practice is rooted in conscious collectivism. She lives at the intersection of queerness, disability, displacement in western Sydney.
Priyanka's work is about the redeeming nature of the mother/daughter bond, despite colonial violence, displacement and loss.
The written work, Audacity of White, was written just before her daughter’s third birthday, after an exchange pre-bedtime. It highlights the insidious nature of Whiteness, colourism and innocence lost.
The illustration was created while her child drew; a moment in time that was mindful, gentle and slow, something her own Amma did not have the luxury of engaging with.
Priyanka’s work explores intergenerational healing and new ways of embodying radical joy and radical love.
