Jhassic’s DJ career started pre-lock out in Eora/Sydney, inspired by the likes of his musical ties to his family, specifically DJ Dos who opened for the likes of Chicago House heavyweight Derrick Carter in the early 90s.
A Jhassic set is a time-machine which often blends the fabrics of his traditional South Asian cultural heritage and contemporary Western identity. These audio journey’s have graced the likes of Sydney’s favourite underground collectives, clubs, festivals and radio stations. Jhassic’s production tells a similar story and also experiments with composition for short-films, podcasts, vocalists, rappers, poets, live performance and dance choreography.
Recently due to the global pandemic’s damping of the nightlife, Jhassic’s most recent creative energies have produced original works still exploring the dichotomy of his identity but this time with vocal features on tracks with long-time collaborators Cashmir.
With 2022 coming to a close, expect to catch Jhassic DJing or performing amongst the likes of the Kerfew Collective, Yung Singh and much more.
