Amani Mahmoud

Amani first started poetry by sharing her words at Bankstown Poetry Slam in 2018. Since then, she’s performed at the 2019 TedxYouth conference as well as the 2019 Sydney Writers Festival as part of the 'Women of the Word' event. Her love for the spoken word has meant that Amani has been extensively involved in the slam community, having support-featured at Bankstown Poetry Slam and Westwords, was part of the overall runner-up team for the 2018 BPS Grand Slam and part of the 2019 production.

Amani has most recently been involved in authoring a story for an arts showcase 'Behind Closed Doors' encouraging conversations and action about domestic violence in South Asian communities.
