"Anytime I see review posts, I skip it. I read one, but don't feel like they really apply to me."

Fair enough.

"There was a review for a Dimensions product (a puppy I think) which was negative, I felt kind of bad for anyone who stitched it (or received a finished one as a gift) when someone else ragged on it as they did. Reviews feel forced and out of place as it's something that's offered with a FO, imo, and not disconnected from context. Not like you can get multiple opinions for the same product, either (unless you all are volunteering to do a group stitch and rate c: )."

The point of reviews is to share your experiences: the good and the bad. Not everyone will have the same experience either, reviews are meant to give a hard and honest look at some of the different patterns, kits, and tools in the cross stitch community. As with anything, one review is one user's opinion. Give something a try and see if you feel the same! If not, write a glowing review for the item :)

"i think there are too many rules for reviews, its a bit weird to have to run a review by the mods and probably deters people"

The reason for the rules surrounding the reviews is we'd like to see in depth and "good" reviews. We don't want a one sentence "review" of a store, pattern, tool, or kit. We want it in depth! How hard was it to make? What's involved (cross stitches, back stitches, french knots)? Was it fun to make? What could be improved on? Was it great the way it was? The point of the reviews are to get some great information from someone about an item we're also interested in - the more info the better!

"I like the reviews, but it's just one persons opinion if no one comments. Maybe a way for more participation? Although tricky! "

Agree! We'd love for it to become a discussion! Especially in the case of the first mentioned post where a user ragged on a particular kit. We'd love to get different sides of the story! Maybe a way for that to happen is for someone to review a highly popular pattern (Hogwarts crest, She Persisted)...

"Reviews are great, would love to see reviews on things other than patterns too. Maybe needle threaders, minders, craft suppliers, stitch frames, threads? "

Absolutely! We'll go through our templates and make sure we have one for stitching accessories!

Can we have an archived page for review like the FAQ page? Or if we already have one, make it more obvious.

Great idea! We'll add it to the FAQ/How To!
