The resources released in Further and Higher Education OER, H817 COVID-19 Response Team are reviewed regularly to address accessibility issues, and we are working on improving the experiences of visitors to our site by making all resources as accessible as possible.
Further and Higher Education OER, H817 COVID-19 Response Team resources have been tested on some assistive technologies and a variety of platforms. We are aware that some visitors may still experience problems with some assistive technologies, but please rest assured that we aim to continue to improve accessibility on our site, and act on visitor suggestions and comments to meet the needs of a wide variety of visitors. The following is a list of some of the accessibility features we are currently working on for our site:
Added alternative tags to all images, to enable screen readers to read them.
Added alternative text to all images including buttons to match the image (for example, the Help button will have alt text of Help).
Images will have been coded in html tags with descriptive attributes.
Improved navigation to avoid nesting.
Our aim is to present our project in a way that does not exclude anyone based on their technical abilities, access to technology, or English literacy.
All materials created follow the guidelines for plain English. Writing in plain English ensures our message is communicated clearly and easily to a broader audience without the need for translators. In the future we aim to include a wider variety of visual aids and multimedia to offer an alternative to text.
