Description
Six-week research project extending development on a given Unity project featuring a voice-controlled NPC with procedurally augmented motion capture animations. The NPC was able to wave at, point to, and walk to the user.
I added a "picking-up" animation, enabling the NPC to bend down and pick up an object.
I then investigated the research question, "How do procedural animations influence users' sense of presence within a VR environment?"
Presentation awarded runner-up prize.
My role:
Procedurally modify Motion Capture animations on an NPC at runtime for greater responsiveness to environment
Implement procedural "picking up" animation through Animation Rigging package
Extend development on given Unity project
Implement weekly feedback from research supervisors
Design & conduct study including formulation of research questions; process data via Jamovi; evaluate results
Present findings through research paper & short public presentation
Final deliverables:
Literature review
Raw research data
Research paper
Unity build
