Smoke Module

From Particles

The Smoke module allows you to add smoke effects (or fire effects if you want) to your simulation.

We have 2 options, to do it From Mesh or From Particles. For performance, we recommend to use the From Particles option whenever possible. The performance and speed of calculation is much faster than From Mesh.

Once we have clicked on our option and then clicked on "Add Smoke", Blender will add Flow emitters to all the chunks that have smoke particles, and it will also add a Domain. It is important to scale and move the domain to fit our scene.

RBDLab uses Mantaflow to generate the smoke, so we won't go into detail about its options, just an overview.

Submodule Domain

Once the smoke is generated, we will have the Domain submodule. From it we will be able to configure our Domain. The resolution, Adaptative Domain, dissolve, etc... all the options of Mantaflow are divided in modules so that its use is comfortable and intuitive.

Flow Emitter Submodule

In this submodule, we can configure our emitters. Density, particle size, initial velocity... or even change the emitter type to Fire or Fire/Smoke.

Smoke Filter

As with particles, the Filter section is used to mute the chunks so that they do not emit smoke.

We could achieve the same result by mute the Smoke particles, but in case of using From Mesh to emit particles, we must use this tool.

Smoke From Mesh

It works exactly the same as From Particles, it just does not use particles, but geometry. Some options of the Emitter module change, and if we generate particles, we can switch from Mesh to Particles without the need to generate the Smoke again.
