Edge Methods Scatter

Edge Method

This fracturing method allows to generate localized fractures on the edges of the chunks.

First the geometry must be fractured (with few fractures) and then a second fracturing is done with the Edge Method. This will generate localized fractures at the edges of the chunks. There are several types of Edge Methods, which we can see below.

All Simple

It generates fractures on all chunk edges, including the outer chunks. The "Simple" method fractures each chunk again. This means that in "Max chunks" you have to set a "low" number, as that is the number of fractures it will make for each chunk. because that is the number of fractures it will do for each chunk. In the example, we are using Edge methods at 6 fractures. If Max Chunks is set to 200, it will generate 1,200 fractures in total.

All Organic

With the "Organic" method, the refracturing will be done on the original geometry, using the fracture edges as the refracturing zone. This will generate more organic fractures, where the "separation" of the original fractures will not be seen. Here the value of "Max Chunks" should be higher, since it will be the value to fracture a single geometry.

Inner Simple

It is the same as the "All Simple", but without generating fractures on the external edges of the chunks, only on the internal edges.

Inner Organic

Like the "All" method, it will use the original geometry to generate the new fractures, but ignoring the outer edges.
