Rate My Ditch - Support Page
Last updated: 4 October 2026
Rate My Ditch is operated by Alexander Ottolangui, operating under the app studio name Rate My Fav Apps, based in the United Kingdom.
This page explains how to get help with Rate My Ditch, including accounts, friendships, profiles, ditches, photographs, maps, notifications, privacy, reporting, blocking, safety, and account deletion.
Rate My Ditch is a humorous map-based entertainment app intended for users aged 18 or over. It is not a guide to safe or lawful access to real-world locations and is not an emergency service.

1. General Support
For general questions, technical problems, or help using Rate My Ditch, contact ratemyditch@gmail.com.
To help us understand a problem, please include only the information that is useful for investigating it, such as:
• what you were trying to do and what happened instead
• any error message shown in the app
• the relevant screen or feature
• your device model and Android version, where useful
• the relevant username, ditch, or review name, where needed to identify the issue
• a screenshot or other context where it genuinely helps explain the problem
Never email your password or authentication codes. Avoid sending unnecessary personal information or private photographs. If a problem involves another person's private content, do not circulate it more widely than necessary.
2. Accounts, Sign-In, and Guest Access
The current Android app supports registered accounts using an email address and password and also offers guest access. The current app does not provide Google Sign-In.
Guest access uses an anonymous Firebase session. Guests can browse supported Public content but are restricted from account-only actions such as creating ditches, uploading images, submitting reviews, saving favourites, using friendship features, managing a registered account, or using other features that require a full account.
Some reporting options may be available to a guest where the app displays them. Availability can depend on the content and screen involved.
If you cannot sign in, check the email address and password you entered and use any available password-reset option. If you still need help, contact support, preferably from the email address linked to your account. We may ask for reasonable information to verify account ownership, but we will not ask you to send us your password.
3. Friends and Friend Requests
Registered users can use the friends features to find other accounts and send a request where the other person allows new friend requests. A request must be accepted before the accounts become friends.
Depending on the request status, you can accept or decline an incoming request, cancel a request you sent, or remove an existing friend.
You can control new requests through Privacy Settings -> Allow friend requests. Turning new requests off does not necessarily remove all limited account information used by signed-in user search or by existing social features.
Removing a friend can change access to Friends-only content. It cannot retract content that the other person legitimately saw, copied, or saved while they had access.
For repeated unwanted requests, harassment, or attempts to bypass a block, use the reporting and blocking options described below.
4. Profile Privacy and Account Discovery
Registered users can choose Public, Friends only, or Private profile visibility in Privacy Settings.
Public profiles may be viewable by other signed-in users. Friends-only profiles are intended to be viewable by the profile owner and accepted friends. Private profiles are intended to be viewable only by the profile owner.
Friend-request discoverability is controlled separately. If you allow friend requests, signed-in users may be able to see limited account information needed to find you and send a request even when your full profile is Friends only or Private. Protected profile content remains subject to the applicable visibility controls.
Profile visibility and ditch visibility are separate settings. Changing one does not automatically change the other.
For more detail about profile information, friendship data, and visibility, see the Privacy Policy.
5. Ditches, Reviews, Favourites, Visibility, and Sharing
Where the feature is available, ditch creators can choose Public or Friends only visibility.
Public ditches may be discoverable and viewable by people using the parts of Rate My Ditch that provide Public content, including guest users where guest access is supported. Friends-only ditches are intended to be accessible only to the creator and accepted friends of the creator.
Registered users can create and edit their own ditches, add or edit their own reviews, save favourites, and use supported leaderboard features. Access to content in lists, maps, profiles, favourites, and leaderboards is subject to the applicable account and visibility rules.
Rate My Ditch can also provide ditch sharing through the device sharing system. Sharing a Friends-only ditch does not make it Public and does not give an unauthorised recipient access. Friends-only sharing is designed to avoid exposing protected ditch details in the external share message.
Ratings, reviews, favourites, rankings, and leaderboards are entertainment features. They do not mean that a location has been verified, is safe, is lawful to access, or is recommended by Rate My Ditch.
6. Photographs, Uploads, and Unfinished Ditch Drafts
You can take or select photographs using the app's available camera and gallery features, subject to device permissions, supported file types, and upload limits.
Check photographs before uploading them. Images can reveal faces, vehicle registrations, private property, personal information, or precise location details.
Uploaded ditch, review, and profile images are stored using Firebase Storage. Access controls can differ according to the type of image and the visibility or account rules that apply to the related content.
If ditch creation or a photo upload fails, check your connection and any error message. The app can preserve an unfinished ditch draft and selected photograph in local app storage so creation can be retried. Clearing the app's data or uninstalling the app can remove locally stored draft information.
If an upload repeatedly fails, contact support and explain whether the problem happened during image selection, image processing, upload, or saving the ditch or review.
7. Maps, Device Location, and Worldwide Place Search
Rate My Ditch can show user-created ditch locations on a map. If you grant location permission, the app may use your current device location while the app is open or actively being used to show your position and support location-related features.
The app is designed for foreground location use and is not intended to keep a history of your live movement in the background when the app is closed.
Worldwide place search is supported through Google Places services. Search text, place identifiers, and related request data needed to return results may be processed through Google services and Rate My Ditch backend functions.
Map information, place-search results, and user-submitted coordinates can be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, or misleading. A map marker is not confirmation that a place is safe, public, lawful to access, or accurately positioned.
If a ditch marker appears incorrect, unsafe, private, or misleading, use an available in-app report option or contact support. See the Safety Disclaimer before considering a real-world visit.
8. Notifications and Notification Preferences
Registered users have an in-app Notifications screen for supported events such as friend requests, accepted requests, and reviews on their ditches.
Notification Preferences let you control supported notification types and whether device push notifications are enabled. Device alerts also depend on the notification permission and settings on your Android device.
Turning off push delivery does not necessarily disable the separate in-app notification categories you leave enabled.
If notifications are missing, check the relevant in-app preferences, the main push-notification setting, Android notification permissions, and your network connection. Delivery timing can also depend on the device and notification service.
Notifications are not emergency alerts and should never be relied upon for urgent safety information.
9. Optional Marketing Permission
Rate My Ditch provides a separate, optional choice about whether content you submit may be reused for Rate My Ditch marketing and promotion.
This permission is not required for ordinary use of the app. Where the setting is available, you can review or change it through Settings -> Marketing Permissions.
Turning the permission off stops future marketing use under that permission, but it may not automatically remove material that has already been published or independently copied.
This permission relates to promotional reuse of submitted content. It is not an email-marketing subscription.
For questions about a particular promotional use or previously published material, contact ratemyditch@gmail.com.
10. Reporting Ditches, Reviews, or Users
In-app reporting is available for supported ditch locations, reviews, and user accounts. Where a report option is displayed, select the relevant reason and add any useful additional details before submitting it.
Reports may be appropriate for concerns such as offensive or abusive content, unsafe or misleading locations, spam or fake content, inappropriate images, personal information, harassment, impersonation, or other conduct that appears to break the app rules.
You can also contact ratemyditch@gmail.com if you cannot use the in-app reporting flow, need to provide additional context, believe your legal or privacy rights are affected, or want to follow up on an earlier report.
Reports are reviewed manually. Submitting a report does not automatically remove content, block an account, or guarantee a particular outcome or an immediate response.
For privacy and safety reasons, we may not be able to tell you every detail of action taken against another user. See the Moderation and Reporting Policy for more information.
11. Blocking Accounts and Unwanted Interactions
Registered users can use available Block controls to reduce interaction with another account. Blocks can be reviewed and managed through Privacy Settings -> Blocked Users.
Blocking may end or affect friendships and pending friend requests and can reduce the blocked account's ditches or reviews from being shown to you where the app supports that behaviour.
Blocking and reporting are separate. Blocking is mainly a personal safety and privacy control; reporting asks Rate My Ditch to review content or behaviour for possible moderation action.
A block cannot erase information that was already public, stop somebody from using a different account, or retrieve copies they already saved outside the app. If behaviour may require moderation, submit a report as well.
12. Safety Concerns and Emergencies
Rate My Ditch is a humorous entertainment app, not safety advice or a recommendation to enter a ditch or visit a particular location.
User-created listings, maps, photographs, reviews, ratings, friendships, shared links, and leaderboards do not establish that a place is safe, accurate, publicly accessible, or lawful to visit.
Do not trespass, enter private or restricted land, ignore signs or closures, approach dangerous roadsides or waterways, or put yourself or another person at risk for the app.
You can report unsafe or unlawful content using the available in-app controls or by contacting ratemyditch@gmail.com.
Rate My Ditch is not an emergency service. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact the appropriate emergency services for your location. In the United Kingdom, call 999 in an emergency. Do not wait for an app report or support email to be reviewed.
13. Account Deletion
Registered users can delete their account from Privacy Settings -> Delete Account and follow the confirmation and verification steps shown in the app.
The account-deletion process is designed to remove the Firebase Authentication account and associated account-linked information where possible, including profile information, ditches, reviews, favourites, uploaded account content, and relevant friendship, blocking, notification, and social records.
Some limited information may be retained where reasonably necessary for legal obligations, safety, security, fraud prevention, abuse prevention, moderation, dispute resolution, or app integrity, as explained in the Privacy Policy and Account Deletion page.
If you cannot access the app, you can request deletion by emailing ratemyditch@gmail.com. Include the email address linked to the account, your username if known, and a clear request to delete the account. Email from the registered address where possible. Never send your password.
Unfinished drafts stored only on your device may need to be removed separately by clearing the relevant local app data or removing the app. See the Account Deletion page for full details.
14. Privacy Questions and Personal Data Requests
For questions about personal information, account data, profile visibility, photographs, device location, diagnostics, reporting records, international processing, access, correction, deletion, or other privacy rights, contact ratemyditch@gmail.com.
Please explain the request and identify the relevant account or information where possible. We may need to verify your identity before disclosing account-related information or taking some actions.
The Privacy Policy explains the information processed by Rate My Ditch, why it is used, how visibility affects who can see content, the main service providers involved, retention, and the rights that may apply to you.
15. Copyright, Other Legal Concerns, and Moderation Appeals
If you believe content infringes copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, or another legal right, contains unlawful material, or should be reconsidered following a moderation decision, contact ratemyditch@gmail.com.
Please identify the relevant content or account, explain the concern, and provide any useful supporting information. Do not send more personal information than is needed.
If you want us to reconsider a moderation decision, explain which restriction or removal you are asking us to review and why you believe the decision should be changed. A follow-up request does not guarantee that content or account access will be restored.
See the Moderation and Reporting Policy for the moderation review and appeal process.
