Account Deletion for Rate My Ditch

Rate My Ditch is operated by Alexander Ottolangui, operating under the app studio name Rate My Fav Apps.

This page explains how to delete a Rate My Ditch account and what happens to account-linked data when a deletion request is processed.

1. Delete Your Account in the App

The fastest way to delete a registered Rate My Ditch account is from inside the app.

To delete your account:

1.     Open Rate My Ditch.

2.     Sign in to the account you want to delete.

3.     Open Privacy Settings.

4.     Select Delete Account.

5.     Follow the confirmation and identity-verification steps shown in the app.

The app asks you to type DELETE to confirm the request. Depending on how you signed in, you may also be asked to re-enter your password or sign in again so that Firebase can verify that the request is coming from the account owner.

Once the request is successfully verified, the app starts the account-deletion process using Firebase Cloud Functions and Firebase Admin services. When deletion completes, the app signs you out.

Guest or anonymous sessions are not registered Rate My Ditch accounts and do not use the registered-account deletion flow.

2. What Account Deletion Is Designed to Remove

When you delete your account, Rate My Ditch is designed to remove account-linked data that is no longer needed to operate, secure, or moderate the service. This includes, where applicable:

·       your Firebase Authentication account

·       your private user profile record, including account-linked email, display information, preferences, privacy settings, notification settings, and current marketing-permission state

·       your public profile record and username reservation

·       your profile image and other user-owned images stored in the app's account-scoped image folders

·       your saved favourite locations

·       reviews created by your account and review images linked to those reviews

·       ditch locations created by your account and location images linked to those locations

·       reviews and favourites linked to ditch locations that are deleted as part of your account deletion

·       friend requests and accepted friendships involving your account

·       blocked-user records linked to your account, including records needed to remove relationships involving the deleted account

·       in-app notification records and registered device notification tokens associated with your account

·       marketing-permission and marketing-consent records stored under your account

Where one of your reviews is deleted but the ditch itself remains, the deletion process is designed to update the remaining review count and average rating for that ditch.

The deletion process also attempts to remove referenced images and account-scoped uploads from Firebase Storage where possible.

3. Information That May Be Retained

Deleting your account does not necessarily require every record connected with past activity to be erased immediately or in every circumstance.

Limited information may be retained where necessary and permitted for purposes such as:

·       legal obligations

·       safety and security

·       fraud or abuse prevention

·       moderation and investigation of reports

·       dispute resolution

·       protecting users, Rate My Ditch, or app integrity

For example, reports, moderation records, removed-content records, or information relating to misuse may need to be retained where they are necessary for those purposes. Where possible, retained information will be limited to what is reasonably necessary.

Deleting your Rate My Ditch account also cannot automatically delete copies of content that have already been sent to or stored by other people or third-party services outside Rate My Ditch. For example, a message containing a shared ditch link may remain in a messaging service even after the underlying ditch has been deleted. The link should no longer provide access once the underlying content is no longer available.

If content was previously used in marketing with your permission, deleting your account does not necessarily remove copies that have already been published outside the app. Contact us if you need help with previously published Rate My Ditch promotional material.

4. Uninstalling the App Does Not Delete Your Account

Removing Rate My Ditch from your phone does not by itself delete your registered account or account-linked data.

If you still have access to the app, use the in-app deletion flow. If you no longer have the app installed or cannot access it, you can request deletion by email as described below.

5. If You Cannot Access the App

You do not need to reinstall Rate My Ditch to request account deletion.

Send an email to ratemyditch@gmail.com with the subject line: Delete my Rate My Ditch account.

Please email from the same email address linked to your Rate My Ditch account where possible. In your message, include:

·       the email address linked to your Rate My Ditch account

·       your username or display name, if known

·       a clear statement that you want your Rate My Ditch account and associated account data deleted

Example: “I would like to delete my Rate My Ditch account and associated account data. The email linked to my account is [your email address].”

6. Identity Verification for Email Requests

To protect users from unauthorised deletion requests, we may need to verify that you own the account before processing an email request.

This may include checking that the request was sent from the email address associated with the account or asking for other limited information needed to identify the account.

We will not ask you to send your Rate My Ditch password by email.

7. Processing Time and Failed Deletions

In-app account deletion is designed to run automatically once the request has been successfully confirmed and authenticated. Technical failures can still occur. If the app tells you deletion failed, your account may not have been fully deleted; retry the deletion or contact us for support.

Email deletion requests are reviewed and processed within a reasonable period after we have enough information to identify the account and verify the request.

If a legal, safety, security, fraud-prevention, abuse-prevention, moderation, or dispute issue requires limited information to be retained, that information may remain for as long as reasonably necessary for that purpose.
