As seen in the picture to the left, time "loop" is a misnomer. The time loop phenomenon is not so much of a loop as it is a "resetting" of time. Dimensions that become entangled in a time loop reach a specified point in time (the initiation point), which is often the cause of the loop, and then are forced backwards to a previous place in their own time line. They are then forced to relive the "loop," or the same set of events, that led up to the initiation point. This cycle repeats indefinitely unless some other event occurs to break the timeline free of the loop. While we have collected data from many cases where the loop has been broken, it is unknown how many dimensions have been trapped in such loops and are unable to break free.
There are many different types and causes of time loops. Please see below for further information.
Temporal distortions happen at points in space and time where two or more dimensions come close to touching each other. Time loops and other such anomalies can be caused at such locations by any kind of high energy reaction, most often taking the form of an unexpected explosion.

WARNING! Please note that while research is allowed, all forms of purposeful time manipulation are illegal in the Rabbit Republic due to the inherent dangers of such technology.
Some species across the multiverse have developed technology capable of creating time loops, though the effect is often achieved accidentally especially when the species is experimenting with time travel and/or dimension travel technology.

This category includes all cases in which time loops have been documented, but the exact cause is unknown.

In most cases, such as the loop documented in Star Trek video transmission S02E13, the people in the loop may experience feelings of having done an action before, but have no actual recollection of it beyond those vague feelings.
However, there are exceptions to this, especially when the time loop is a result of technology. For example, in Stargate Video Transmission S04E06, three subjects who were caught in the time loop still retained their memories from loop to loop.

Continuous loops - This term refers to time loops that have not, or are unable to terminate. Although continuous loops are theorized to exist, none have been documented. It is theorized that if a timeline is locked into a loop then information from that timeline cannot exit. This theory is supported by what we know from other loops where information has only been possible to retrieve after the loop had been broken. Because of the inability to break the loop and continue on, space-time scientists classify this type of loop as the ending of a timeline.
Broken loops - These are the most commonly documented type of loop. "Broken" is referring to the end of the loop. Other dimensions have been now to refer to these as causality loops. A loop started, but the people inside were able to stop the cycle of events and free their timeline.
Aborted loops - This type of loop rarely occurs and often results in multiple alternate timelines. An aborted loop happens when a person or event from outside of the loop ends the loop. Please see video transmission S02E13 from E-ST1966 (Star Trek) for an example.
