CT EXTREMETIES:

CT scanning of the extremities includes CT scans of the shoulder, arm, elbow, wrist, hand, hip, leg, knee, ankle, and foot. CT scan of the extremities can provide more detailed information about bone and soft tissue structures than standard X-rays of the extremities using cross sectional imaging.

CT of the extremities is useful in the following situations:

• infections and masses

• evaluate patients with pain and swelling.

• trauma imaging

• evaluate for healing after surgery and for operative complications and fracture non-union.
