CT ABDOMEN AND PELVIS:
CT is a sensitive method for diagnosis of abdominal and pelvic diseases. It is used frequently to determine stage of cancer and to follow progression. CT abdomen in particularly useful in the investigation of acute abdominal pain. The improved spatial resolution of third generation CT multi-slice scanners makes it possible to demonstrate the anatomy of the abdomen in multiple planes without sacrificing image quality. For a successful CT abdomen, some procedures might need specific instructions called bowel prep, these instructions (bowel prep) are given at time of appointment booking by our staff.
CT of the abdomen and pelvis is useful in the following situations:
Infections and Inflammatory conditions – appendicitis, pancreatitis, Crohn’s disease.
Renal (kidney) stones.
Cancers of the stomach, colon, liver, kidneys, bladder, pancreas as well as lymphoma.
Abdominal aortic aneurysms (CTA)
Pre- and post-surgical assessment.
