This is one of my all-time favorite locations to correspond. This was taken around Thanksgiving time, and shot all by myself. Initially, there was positive feedback on this correspondence. However, there are many notable issues like the location being irrelevant and my bra strap showing (a complaint from grown-men in the room.)
I had the honor of being the correspondent for a group's segment on our local Mayor's Youth Council. I traveled with them to interviews and got to have a one-on-one conversation with the Mayor of my very own city. It was very warm this day and it was very difficult to not show how much I was sweating on camera.
My partner Kate Kiser corresponded for this segment. However, I edited, filmed, and wrote the entirety of the segment. I chose this story after helping a group of special-needs children work Jaguar Java and wanted everyone to know about their hard-work.
This was my first time corresponding during my junior year. I began working with the underclassmen in filming, corresponding, editing, and more. I had the opportunity to meet small business owners, like Chane, and learn and educate others on his work.
This was my first time ever corresponding. I was nervous and very unprepared, but I quickly found my love for the task and learned to grow from my mistakes in these clips: wearing white, in an irrelevant location, and being in an oddly shaded area.
This was a very fun segment to make because I am an officer on the Environmental Awareness Club. This allowed me to get the name out about my club to our viewers and gain new followers for both accounts. I loved filming nature and interviewing my friends and sponsor.
Corresponding on a bright, sunny day is not the smartest idea, but my partner and I tried our best to make it work. Sunlight in your eyes is really hard to correspond with, but I made it work and my bright blue sweater ended up making a great contrast to the green grass in the background.
With my brother being a firefighter, I was very excited to create and correspond for this segment. I wrote my correspondence and tried to include as much information as I could. The camera was blurry, but I am still proud of how this correspondence came out. The location is in the same area as my Youth Legislature correspondence.
After creating my first segment and getting loads of critiques from my peers, teachers, and producers, I decided to step up my game and create a well-rounded segment. The segment on Fat Cat Art Cafe was my second segment in JNN, and I recorded the interviews, corresponded, and wrote the segment on my own. It had a very positive response within the classroom and was such a fun segment to create.
Attached is an episode of "The Central."
I worked hard all year to help edit, film, write, and produce episodes of "The Central," Jaguar News Networks monthly youtube show that recaps many stories, sports events, and news around the world, state, and school. I worked alongside the Head Producer Maya Freedman while filming anchor and weather, and writing scripts. I also created the bumpers for our sponsors and the thumbnails!
This is one of my favorite segments because my partner and I got a personal tour of multiple fire stations and departments. I have an older brother who went through this particular graduating class and wanted to highlight the hard work I knew he did. We were unable to get b-roll of the Mississippi State Fire Academy, but after many emails with the directors and presidents, we received some virtually.
This segment is an example of a time I helped correspond for a small group my senior year. The topic was a local theatre production on a play entitled The Best Christmas Pageant Ever! This was so fun to correspond for and I enjoyed walking around with my underclassmen to find good b-roll shots and interview spots.
This is my most recent correspondence (as of 2/14/24), and it was for one of the underclassmen's segment on the club at Madison Central called Mu Alpha Theta. Some critiques for myself were that my undershirt was uneven and that I said "moo" instead of the correct pronounciation "mew." I think it's always important to critique yourself and overcome your mistakes.
