How leading has helped me...
Leading has allowed me to teach my underclassmen, peers, and everyone around me. Editing segments, critiquing social media posts for Jaguar News Network, and grading articles and yearbook spreads has been very helpful in my design progression. I, also, allow my underclassmen to view my work and critique it. This allows me to stay humble and grow from my mistakes.
Yearbook Leadership -
Throughout the year, I sent messages to remind underclassmen of upcoming field trips, deadlines, and more. The screenshot above is a message to yearbook students reminding them of the fall MSPA convention.
To help remedy mistakes made on the sidelines, I sent a message with information that underclass yearbook staffers could use to better their actions.
Daily reminders were sent during the hectic Homecoming week to yearbook students reminding them of their assigned jobs and locations.

To Whom It May Concern:
Rachael Carpenter has been a high school journalist for three years. She is currently one of my yearbook editors, and she is a member of Jaguar News Network. Rachael has balanced yearbook assignments while working on news segments for the network. This is difficult for anyone, but considering Rachael is a leader for both groups, she has handled her work with ease. Rachael is a creative, talented, and responsible student I have been blessed to have on staff for three years.
Words that come to mind when thinking of Rachael are passionate, driven, determined, organized, and responsible. She works well under pressure. Rachael is incredibly busy on and off campus but has never failed to submit an assignment early. Because of her attention to detail, she completes her work with a high standard and expects others to do the same.
Rachael is a great mentor to younger staff members, teaching them how to balance assignments and workloads. She gives pointers on design, writing, and photography in a way that fellow staff members can understand and apply. I haven’t seen a task Rachael has failed to complete successfully. I love when I have students like this, but it does make it hard when they graduate. Trying to fill these shoes will be difficult. Luckily, she has done her job well, so maybe there will be someone in her path to fill this void next year.

To Whom It May Concern:
Rachael Carpenter has been a student of mine for the past three years, and she has blossomed into one of the most driven and passionate leaders that I have encountered in my career.
Rachael never shies away from an obstacle and is a lightning-fast problem solver. Her critical intuition is essential to our newsroom, and she weighs her criticism to ensure it has the maximum impact on our production quality.
The energy that Rachael brings to the screen is infectious. She has been the example for correspondence and on-screen presence in general. I have witnessed her coach individual students through these exercises with poise and compassion.
As our social media producer, Rachael brought a new creative vision to involve more students inside and outside of the class. She collaborated with her fellow producers to provide relevant and timely subjects to cover and greatly expanded our viewership. For these and many other reasons, I have no doubt that she will play an essential role in whichever community she chooses.
