Two shows per year, in the grand scale of things is not a lot of opportunity to get involved with our club, and not a lot of opportunities to learn. Plays and Pastries is our solution to that void by giving you an opportunity to support the club regularly while also getting to interact with new texts alongside other members of your school's community!
The basic idea is that we provide some beverages and snacks as well as a script to read, and you and your peers are assigned roles and read through a script together! It is a great opportunity to explore plays you may never have heard of, or ones you've been meaning to read while relaxing with some food.
It also helps support our little company, because we are providing food and drink, we require a small donation with your admission to the event on a Pay What You Can Afford (PWYCA) system with a variety of donation levels. So essentially, you get to spend an evening relaxing and learning while also contributing funds that will go directly into our productions. It really helps the club, and we're really interested in hearing you read with us. See you at the next one!
We aren't sure when we will be holding our first Plays and Pastries night, but keep an eye out for when it does come (and if it goes well, hopefully we'll be able to put on a few more)! Watch out here and on our Instagram for updates on when it might be and where to go for it!
If you have any suggestions for us to look into in the meantime, or just want us to know that we have some interested parties, feel free to fill out our survey!
