Queen’s Theatre Troupe is a student-run organization for practicing theatre and enriching the Queen’s community with discourse about the human condition. Each academic year, we produce two published plays, one of which aligns with the curriculum of a Queen’s Drama course, and we host various social events related to drama and community togetherness. Founded on education, the Troupe promotes experiential learning through exploration, risk-taking, and collaboration.
Queen's Theatre Troupe (QTT) provides Queen's students with the opportunity to engage with, reimagine, and adapt plays they are passionate about.
Each year, we produce two published plays, and one aligns with the curriculum of a core drama course to allow Queen’s students to engage with the plays they are studying through the medium in which the plays are meant to be experienced.
QTT hosts a space for those aspiring to enter the theatre industry to gain experience, as well as those looking to engage in theatre recreationally and to create community, enhancing their university experience.
We are an environment for students of all Faculties and levels of experience to collaborate, inspire one another, and grow together.
Not only does the Troupe bring more theatre into the Kingston community, but it also allows students to showcase their perspectives on works from the past and present, and explore their own artistic styles or leadership techniques.
We provide a robust and vibrant community where students can mount all different kinds of theatre.
Engaging with published works allows for students to combine positionalities and have social conversations intersecting the playwright’s intentions and social contexts in which the play was written, their own personal positionalities and perspectives, along with those of the Kingston and Queen’s audiences who are invited to witness the production in the way it has been adapted.
