Postdoctoral Fellows
Dr. Nasir Ali
Nasir Ali received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Physics from Department of Physics, Aligarh Muslim University. In 2020, he received his Ph.D. degree in Physics from School of Physical Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University. From December 2020 to July 2025, he worked as a postdoctoral fellow at SKKU Advanced Institute of Nano Technology (SAINT), Sungkyunkwan University. In August 2025, he joined Prof. Seunguk Song’s research group at Department of Energy Science, Sungkyunkwan University. His current research mainly focuses on investigation of quantum phase metal-insulator transition, metallic transport properties and critical phenomena in 2D materials by employing different contact strategies such as semimetal contacts (Bi, Sb), 2D metallic contacts (NbSe2, TaSe2, TaS2, etc.), and pre-patterned electrodes.
The lab currently has only one vacant postdoctoral position in the fabrication of 2D heterostructures for their quantum information science applications, and we are seeking qualified candidates.
Research Associate
Sooyoung Choi
Sooyoung Choi received her M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania. She joined the lab as a research associate in March 2026. Her research interests include 2D superconductors and twist angle-dependent electronic properties in 2D heterostructures.
Graduate Students
Wonchan Lee
Wonchan Lee joined the lab as a research assistant in October 2024 and transitioned into the Integrated M.S.-Ph.D. program in March 2025. His research interests include quantum phase transitions in 2D transistors and low-power computing technologies that leverage novel quantum phenomena.
Yunjung Cho
Yunjung Cho joined the lab as a research assistant in November 2024 and transitioned into the Integrated M.S.-Ph.D. program in March 2025. Her research focuses on two key areas: (1) Large-area epitaxy synthesis of 2D semiconductors. (2) Fabrication and development of 0D Quantum Dot embedded TMD heterostructures.
Inbae Song
Inbae Song has been a Master-PhD Combined Program student since March 2025, having previously started his undergraduate internship with the group in January 2025. His research encompasses two main areas: (i) growing 2D transition metal tellurides through thermal CVD.
Kangpyo Cho
Since March 2025, Kangpyo Cho has been a Master-PhD Combined Program student, having previously worked as a research assistant in the lab since February 2025. His research focuses on the growth of 2D ferroelectric materials, with the ultimate goal of applying these findings to develop quantum-engineered logic and memory applications.
Jihwan Jeon
Jihwan Jeon is an integrated M.S.-Ph.D. student who started his program in September 2025. He originally joined the lab as a research assistant in April 2025. His research focuses on wafer-scale synthesis of high-quality 2D III-VI compound semiconductors for single photon emitters and ferroelectric memory applications.
Chaehui Lim
Chaehui Lim has been a Master-PhD Combined Program student in the lab since September 2025. Her research focuses on MOCVD-based synthesis of lateral in-plane 2D heterostructures and the exploration of their potential applications in quantum information science.
Kyungwu Kwon
Kyngwu Kwon joined the lab as an undergraduate intern in March 2025 and will transition to a graduate student role starting in March 2026. His research primarily centers on the synthesis of high-quality 2D topological semimetals and semiconductors for nanoelectronics applcations.
Yerin So
Yerin So is currently an undergraduate student in Physics at Sookmyung Women’s University. Having joined the QS Lab as a research intern in August 2025, she will commence her graduate studies in March 2026. Her research focuses on 2D superconductors, with a particular emphasis on investigating their fundamental physical properties for superconducting qubit applications.

Seohee Park has been an undergraduate intern in the lab since September 2025. Her research focuses on synthesizing 2D ferroelectric materials and fabricating devices based on them for further applications in the next-generation semiconductor industry.
Taeyoung Jeon (undergraduate intern)
Taeyoung Jeon is an undergraduate research student majoring in Chemical Engineering. Her research interests focus on MOCVD-based synthesis of 2D heterostructures and exploring their applicability.
Sungwoo Yoon (undergraduate intern)
Sunwoo Yoon is an undergraduate research student majoring in Chemical Engineering. Her research focuses on the wafer-scale synthesis of PtTe2 via TCVD, optimizing growth parameters to achieve high crystallinity for next-generation semiconductor interconnects and spintronic applications.
Minseok Kim (undergraduate intern)
Minseok Kim has been an undergraduate intern in the lab since March 2026. His research interest focused on analyzing the quantum transport phenomena of 2D ferroelectric devices and integrating these advanced physical characteristics into the architecture of low-power circuit designs.
Juhyung Lee (SKKU Undergrad Research Program, URP)
Juhyung Lee has been an undergraduate intern in the lab since March 2026. He is a Chemical Engineering major, and his research focuses on analyzing 2D materials using machine learning for applications in the next-generation semiconductor industry.
Dahyeon Oh (SKKU Undergrad Research Program, URP)
Dahyeon Oh joined the QS Lab as an URP student in March 2026 and is majoring in Chemical Engineering. Her research focuses on the epitaxial growth control of wafer-scale WS2 thin films using MOCVD and data-driven process optimization.

Hyeonsu Kim is an undergraduate research student majoring in Advanced Materials Science and Engineering. His research focuses on the growth of 2D ferroelectric materials and their integration into ferroelectric-gated Te field-effect transistors
