During the World Economy and International Economic Relations module, we completed different activities that were included in the overall module assessment. These activities included weekly tasks, quizzes, questions, discussions, feedback activities, and reading materials provided by the lecturer.
At the beginning of the module, I considered these activities mainly as requirements that I needed to complete for my assessment. However, as the semester progressed, I understood that they were also designed to help me understand the topics and prepare for the final assessment.
We studied different topics related to the world economy and international economic relations, including international trade, comparative advantage, exchange rates, balance of payments, international organisations, and economic integration. The tasks and questions helped me review these topics regularly.
At first, I sometimes felt that completing all the weekly tasks was difficult, especially when several subjects required my attention at the same time. However, I gradually realised that regular tasks helped me stay connected with the module.
I particularly enjoyed activities related to international trade and comparative advantage because they were easier to connect with real-world examples. Discussions also helped me hear different opinions and think about economic issues from different perspectives.
Feedback from the lecturer was also useful because it helped me understand where I had made mistakes and what I needed to improve.
The weekly quizzes and assignments were one of the most useful parts of the module. They gave me an opportunity to check my understanding before the main assessment.
The questions provided during the module also encouraged me to think rather than simply memorise information. Reading the recommended literature helped me gain a deeper understanding of some topics and find additional explanations.
One difficulty was that I did not always complete every activity as regularly as I should have. When I delayed some tasks, I found it harder to remember the material later. This showed me that regular preparation is important for achieving a good result.
Overall, I think the combination of quizzes, assignments, discussions, feedback, and reading materials made the learning process more structured.
The assessment activities helped me understand that learning is more effective when it takes place regularly rather than only before an examination.
For example, quizzes helped me identify which topics I understood well and which topics required further study. Assignments encouraged me to apply economic concepts, while discussions helped me develop my ability to explain my ideas.
The recommended literature was also important because lectures alone did not always provide enough information for a deeper understanding. By using additional sources, I could look at international economic issues from different perspectives.
I also realised that feedback is an important part of learning. When I received feedback on my work, I could identify my weaknesses and avoid making the same mistakes in future tasks.
Looking back, I think I could have achieved better results if I had planned my time more effectively and completed each activity immediately instead of postponing some of them.
Conclusion
This module helped me understand that assessment activities are not only a way of receiving marks but also an important part of the learning process.
Through quizzes, assignments, questions, discussions, feedback, and academic literature, I improved my understanding of world economy and international economic relations. I also developed my ability to analyse economic issues and connect theoretical concepts with real-world situations.
I learned that regular participation and consistent preparation can have a positive influence on academic performance.
In future modules, I plan to organise my time more effectively, complete weekly tasks on time, use recommended literature more actively, and pay greater attention to feedback. I believe these habits will help me improve both my academic results and my understanding of the subjects I study.
