Project Hosted Two International Learning Analytics Conferences in Uzbekistan

The QAA-funded International Collaborative Enhancement Project (ICEP) on Learning Analytics successfully hosted two international conferences on 17 August 2026 in Urgench and 21 August 2026 in Tashkent. Organised in partnership with Mamun University, New Uzbekistan University, and Queen Mary University of London, the events brought together a diverse cross-section of educators, researchers, and university leaders from across the higher education sector.
Conference Highlights
Over the course of both conferences, participants engaged in discussions on how learning analytics can be harnessed to enhance student engagement, improve learning experiences, and support evidence-informed educational practice. Presentations explored the project's core findings, including:
The critical role of early identification systems in supporting at-risk students;
The impact of systematic monitoring on class participation and academic outcomes;
Ethical considerations and best practices in the use of student data.
A central focus of the conferences was the Learning Engagement Analytics (LEA) monitoring tool, developed under the project, which tracks student attendance and in-class activity to flag those who may need additional academic support. Attendees had the opportunity to see live demonstrations and discuss practical implementation strategies for their own institutions.
Outcomes and Next Steps
The conferences served as a vital platform for knowledge exchange and international collaboration. Feedback from participants highlighted the value of cross-institutional dialogue and the shared commitment to advancing the effective and ethical use of learning analytics. The project team has gathered valuable insights that will inform the final phase of the project and shape future partnerships.
