Chapter 40 opens with a flashback to August 6th with Koga in the library as Runa comes to interrupt him. Annoyed, Koga asks Runa to leave him alone and Runa asks Koga to come with her then she'd stop and he reluctantly agrees to do so. Four hours pass and is left with a letter that says "Sorry Koga, I wasted your time but I liked it" and Runa leaves. Flashback ends to a battle damaged Nyah and Kyla, surprised to see Koga standing back up and he tells the two "attack in 7 seconds." Koga and The Earth Phantom clashes causing shockwaves and an explanation on Koga's new eye is explained. Point of view switches to The Raven Phantom and it blast a huge blast of aerokinesis. Alice loses her footing and Hydama arrives and creates a barrier to protect the two of them. Chapter ends with Hydama entering overcharge.
