Koga opens his eyes directly following the events of the previous chapter in an empty void as he contemplates every decision that got him there - being symbolized by a tear drop. Koga begins by thinking about his younger years with the narrator beginning to explain Koga's birthday being March 14 and being the last and only child to awaken an innate kinetic. He later taught himself to read at two and was afraid of the dark until he was six. This later gets cut off  due to Nigel saying to him "I know you said you'll be here soon but, I wasn't expecting this soon." (probably referencing what Koga whispered in Chapter 15) The two continue their conversation as Koga's kinetic energy begins to flair up, making him question if he's intended to have his kinetic energy if he's dead. Nigel replies back telling him it may not be his time to die yet then mockingly says "or maybe you're being resuscitated." Nigel ends with telling Koga he shouldn't end up back there in at least five years as Brandon and Aliyah are shown standing in front of him. Runa also appears and the four begin speaking to each other. Koga apologizes telling them he tried his best; however, this gets stopped by Brandon telling him "no you didn't." Aliyah tells Brandon to knock it off and Brandon then tells Aliyah that Koga needs to hear what he'll say and maybe she'd want to hear it too. Brandon then explains to Koga that he's far more gifted than he thinks and only needs to drop his current mindset. The three fade away as Koga regains consciousness . The narrator explains Koga has awakened following his brief moment of death.
