The Master of Science in Economics Program Overview
The Master of Science in Economics Program is an innovative two-year academic program that emphasizes on bringing methods of modern economic analysis, economic development, theory, policy, and emphasizing frontier trainings in the field of statistics, econometrics, and quantitative analysis.
The students are expected to have a wide and comprehensive knowledge in modern economics, which can be applied in crafting policies, decision-making proposals, conducting researches, feasibility studies, financial analysis and forecasting, and government and business analysis.
The Master of Science in Economics (M.S. Econ) traces its humble beginning in 1976 in the mid re-structuring of the university when the Faculty of Arts and Sciences was reestablished and the Master in Economics program were added in the Graduate School.
In 2010, the Master in Economics was renamed and revised into Master of Arts in Economics Program expanding the curriculum and emphasizing on research subjects.
The Master of Arts in Economics (MAE) is a graduate program offered to students who wish to pursue a professional career in economics. The program provides quality theoretical foundation and practical knowledge necessary in preparing its graduates for advanced work in the economics profession.
In 2020, the program was renamed and revised into Master of Science in Economics incorporating Data Science and Analytics concentrating on the core elements of economic theory, macroeconomics, and econometrics, and it has extensive use of mathematics and statistics to facilitate analysis
