Our mission is to mold and enhance capable and competent professional economists both in the field of research and policy information. That said, our program is geared toward producing economists who are not only knowledgeable in the field of economics but are also equipped with the philosophy and know-how of other subject areas.
We envision our Economics program to impart noteworthy insights, sage perspectives, and intuitive recommendations in both the local and international arena of policy making.
The Master of Science in Economics Program is one of the programs in the Graduate School of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines which has grown rapidly while maintaining its well-deserved reputation in providing quality and excellent education. With the revision of the curriculum from Master of Arts in Economics to Master of Science in Economics, the Program provides students rigorous training in quantitative and qualitative economic analysis, data science, and research in a supportive environment that facilitates learning and academic achievements.
The Program goes through a continuous accreditation by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP) for it to further improve on and strengthen its curricular requirements in order to be at par with the quality standards set by the Agency. In spite of the challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, the M.S. Economics Program continues to commit itself to the provision of quality education to its students that are responsive to the current needs of industry and government.

We successfully officiated a workshop in collaboration with Go Study Abroad last December 2021. The workshop is a lecture series about the digital economy and it aims to help students from China and the Philippines better understand its importance, benefits, and challenges. Our very own Dr. Ricardo Dizon, Dr. Gregoria M. Guce, Dr. Aileen L. Camba, and Dr. Melcah P. Monsura spearheaded the online lectures and discussions.
The Kagoshima University (KU) in Japan and Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Academic Exchanges in 2018.
