In support to the "TESDAmayan" program of Secretary Isidro S. LapeΓ±a, which calls for initiatives related to donation drive and similar community assistance projects or activities, the Provincial Training Center - Surigao del Sur, headed by Administrator Lilian C. Garces, in partnership with the Philippine National Red Cross- Surigao del Sur Chapter, the Department of Health, Rural Health Unit and LGU Marihatag, successfully conducted on June 29, 2021 a Community Extension Service Program through Blood Letting Activity and COVID-19 Vaccine Awareness Campaign at the PTC-SurSur grounds, Poblacion, Marihatag, this province.
The activity was attended by all PTC SurSur staff and employees and the various graduates and scholars of TVET programs offered by the center.
The activity was conducted to embrace the distinct sympathetic nature of the Filipinos, who are always ready to help our "Kababayan" in distress, through ensuring enough and ample supply of blood in the PNRC blood banks should the needs arise.
In addition, to counter the stigma and false information regarding the COVID-19 vaccination initiatives of the government, representatives from the Department of Health and Local Health Office of LGU Marihatag, facilitated information campaign/awareness drive and an open-forum/focused group discussions to answer queries regarding the vaccine.
In her message, Administrator Lilian C. Garces emphasized the holistic approach TESDA is providing its graduates and scholars- not only providing them world-class skills trainings but also engaging them to community support and outreach programs and health awareness and information drive projects for them to be catalysts of change and growth in their respective communities.
The said activity will not be be made possible without the support of TESDA Surigao del Sur, headed by APD Romel M. Natad, and TESDA Caraga, headed by RD Tarhata S. Mapandi, CESO III.
Our salute to the employees, staff, graduates and scholars of PTC-Surigao del Sur for making the said activity a success.
