The Provincial Training Center - Surigao del Sur , which was formally recognized as a newly created TESDA Technology Institution in Caraga Region by virtue of Memoramdum No. 322 series of 2019, dated July 31, 2019, was formally launched through a Ground Breaking Ceremonies on 29th of September 2019 by Secretary Isidro S. Lapeña, PhD, CSEE, TESDA's Director General through the efforts of Director Rey M. Cueva, the then Provincial Director of TESDA Surigao del Sur. The Provincial Training Center - Surigao del Sur has been officially inaugurated on 9th of August 2020 during the leadership of Director Ashary A. Banto, TESDA Caraga Regional Director, and Director Julius Sol O. Jamero, the then Provincial Director of TESDA Surigao del Sur The Provincial Training Center - Surigao del Sur has been established during the incumbency of Hon. Justin Marc L. Pelenio, Municipal Mayor of LGU Marihatag who donated the lot for the training center.

The Provincial Training Center-Surigao del Sur (PTC-SDS) was operationalized and launched last  August 7, 2020. The launching activity was graced by Hon. Prospero A. Pichay, Jr., Congressman of the 1st district of Surigao del Sur, Gov. Alexander T. Pimentel represented by Provincial Administrator Pedro M. Trinidad, Mayor Justin Marc M. Pelenio, Municipal Mayor of Marihatag and RD Ashary A. Banto.
