About

The Protection Island Museum is operated by the Protection Island Cultural Historical Society (PICHS)

We are run by volunteers and funded by donations, memberships, gift shop sales and other fundraising events such as our annual garden tour and barbecue.

The cultural part of our title refers to our commitment to reflect and illuminate the unique inhabitants of our island by presenting their art, wisdom and various collections. 

Changing exhibits have explored the history of the island, including The Dinghy Dock Pub, Station Seven, and Happyland, as well as exhibits focusing on the present:  the island's ecosystem, and the art, crafts and collections of various islanders. 

Other programming has included lectures on native plants of Protection Island, Coast Salish weaving, bottle collecting, and activities such as nature and beach walks, book launches and musical happenings.
